Birds watching expedition


Day 01

Upon arrival in Iquitos, you will be receptioned and transferred to the hotel of your choice, in the city of Iquitos. For early arrivals there will be time to walk to the banks of the Amazon to see their first Amazonian birds. In addition to the ubiquitous Great Kiskadee purple throated euphonia,  tanagers, and so on.

Day 02


Breakfast- hotel

we will take our boat to navigate the Nanay Amazon  River, which will take us to the Amazon Tropical Ecolodge, where you will have your first contact with birds of the Amazonian forest, an island with low vegetation (Tessaria scrub) have olive hummingbird with spots , lesser Hornero, white-black-and-bird (also in Cecropia), less washer-tyrant. Island with cane stands of Gynerium has dark Colaespina chest, white belly Colaespina, Parker Spanetail, and Tyrant Riverside.

Day 03


Before sunrise, we will take an early morning walk in the mainland forests, where the diversity of tree species from anywhere in the world has been discovered. With luck, you will find a mixed flock of birds that feed through a column of an army of ants. Sometimes these flocks have more than 40 species of birds.

you will return to the jungle and hopefully observe golden-headed and bearded bouncers on their deployment routes. In the afternoon, there will be an open boat ride through the Amazon in search of species along the river such as the Black-necked Hawk, crowned herons and three species of kingfisher. We will also look for the two pink and gray freshwater river dolphins that are commonly found in the tributaries of the river.

Days 04 - 05


04:00 am we will go to Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve. This is the best place in the world to watch new bird species endemic of tve reserve .

Visit to the Allpahuayo Mishana reserve
During our visit to the IIAP station in Allpahuayo we can visit two main paths: Path A (2:30 hrs walk) and Path A (3:00 hrs walk). You can start of these two paths, obviously, in the early hours of the morning to be able to observe more birds in more activity.

When walking along this path we will find different habitats of mainland, among secondary forests, primary forests and the famous forests on white sand. With all this variety of habitats we can also find a great variety of birds, in the achiote plot we can find individuals from Lesser Kiskadee, Gray-capped Flycatcher, Spotted Tody-Flycatcher, White-necked Jacobin, Black Hawk-Eagle and others. In the plot of medicinal plants, apart from enjoying knowing the medicinal plants of our Amazon region, we can also find birds such as Yellow-rumped Cacique, Russet-backed Oropendola, Yellow-tufted Woodpecker, Masked Tityra, Bare-necked Fruitcrow, among others. During our visit to the forest on white sand we can appreciate some species that are endemic to this type of forest such as: Ancient Antwren, Zimmer’s Antbird and Allpahuayo Antbird; We can also see a lek (breeding site) of the Straight-billed Hermit hummingbird.
Trail C:

In this path we will make a long walk through primary forests and forests on white sand. In these habitats we can find mixed flocks of foraged birds by species such as: Black-faced Antbird, Cinereous Antshrike, Dusky-throated Antshrike, Mouse-colored Antshrike. We can also find toucans such as White-throated Toucan, Golden-collared Toucanet and Many-banded Araçari. Other bird species are also characteristic in these habitats such as Screaming Piha. During the visit to the forest on white sand we can also appreciate some species that are endemic to this type of forest such as: Ancient Antwren, Zimmer’s Antbird and Allpahuayo Antbird. Apart from these, we can also observe an active Golden-headed Manakin

We will continue our  bird watching expeditions going to Nauta city by car 2 hours road

6, 7, 8 days


We will begin a our birds expedition in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, one of the most wonderful places in our jungle, to observe exotic birds in this reserve we can watch more than 400.00 hundred of birds exploring defferents in this floodplain Rainforest.

In the reserve we will use tends , hommack beds. To explore as much as we can . We also can stay in base camp of the communities.
